“Could You Not Stay Awake One Hour?” – Our Call to Eucharistic Prayer

The birthplace of Our Savior Jesus Christ, the City of David, literally means “house of bread.” The beauty of this birthplace, connected with Jesus’ revelation in Chapter 6 of John’s Gospel—“I am the bread of life who came down from heaven” is precisely why we Catholics adore the Lord in the Holy Eucharist.

“Could you not stay awake one hour?” These are the words of Jesus to His apostles—Peter, James and John—as He was experiencing His agony in the Garden. He is inviting us to spend an hour with Him. Our Parish commitment to evangelize, to win converts and to reach out to “reverts” (those who are away from the church but need to come back) begins on our knees before Christ in the Eucharist.

A Sacred Space Rising

Building a Free-Standing Adoration Chapel at St. Edmond Catholic Church

St. Edmond Church has many dedicated parishioners involved in the forty-hour devotion for the last four years. Our humble, little chapel gives limited space, has no access to bathrooms, and is not soundproof from the noise coming from within the Family Center. We began a discussion regarding the building of a “Bethlehem” on the campus. A free-standing chapel on the grounds of St. Edmond would provide opportunities for Eucharistic Adoration in an environment of reverential space, Holy silence, and security.

St. Edmond Catholic Church has established a steering committee to explore the feasibility of building a free-standing Eucharistic Adoration Chapel on our campus to enhance the experience of our parishioners interested in spending time in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

Please bookmark this page to stay up to date on information and events related to our effort to build a freestanding Eucharistic Adoration Chapel here on the campus of St. Edmond Church.
