How does Someone Become Catholic?
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults ( RCIA) is the process whereby adults enter the Catholic Church. RCIA classes are held weekly, and over the course of several months those who attend the RCIA classes are educated on what the Catholic Church believes and are given the opportunity to ask questions about those beliefs.
This RCIA process is also used for those adults who were simply baptized as Catholics but never received First Communion or Confirmation (they have had no formal religious instruction in the Catholic faith). These persons are also welcome in this process. We do conduct a summer session for any adult baptized Catholic who has not yet received Confirmation.
For all adults seeking entrance into the Catholic faith, of importance is your marital history. Fr. Joe Campion, Pastor, will examine that history with you to determine if any “repairing” needs to happen. You will be assisted in whatever might be needed as a corrective action.
Finally, for those who are called to full membership in the Church, the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) are celebrated at the Easter Vigil.
